Oil shale group picks new leader
A Grand Junction man has taken over as head of the National Oil Shale Association, which includes companies working to develop oil shale in Colorado and Utah.
Brad McCloud replaces Glenn Vawter, who headed the nonprofit organization for eight years.
“I am excited about the opportunity to work with community leaders, businesses, organizations, elected representatives and other community stakeholders who share an interest in and support the oil shale industry’s growth from its current research and development stage to commercialization,” McCloud said.
The transition from Vawter’s leadership will “provide a good opportunity to look at what we’ve done successfully and look at opportunities,” he said, noting he hopes to help communities that stand to be affected by oil shale development.
McCloud previously was executive director of another oil-shale organization, Environmentally Conscious Consumers of Oil Shale.
His new assignment won’t change his relationship with consulting clients in other businesses, McCloud said.
