Olathe High students will swap formals before dance

Paige Ready, a senior at Olathe High School, is helping organize a dress swap and fundraiser in advance of a winter formal dance at the school.

Buying a formal dress to wear only once is such a waste.

That’s the thinking of seniors Paige Ready and Kate Roth of Olathe High School.

The two are organizing a dress swap and fundraiser in advance of a winter formal dance at the school on Feb. 8.

For $10, students can bring in their gently used formal dresses and shoes to sell.

Owners can list prices on their duds. The sale will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the cafeteria of Olathe High School.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will go toward a senior party or other clubs at the school, Ready said.

“We’re thinking of putting together a senior trip, even if it’s just a barbecue,” she said.
