One last chance to vote

Early voting ended Friday in Mesa County and mail ballots were sent out weeks ago, although they can still be dropped off at the county clerk’s office through Nov. 6.

For a sizeable portion of county residents, however, the only voting option left is to show up at one of the 10 Election Service Centers in the county and cast their ballots on Election Day.

A significant majority of county voters chose not to wait that long. Numbers from the Mesa County Clerk’s election office showed that as of Thursday, 61 percent of the county’s 76,075 active voters had cast their ballots early and had them accepted. By far the greatest majority of them — 43,501 — chose mail ballots rather than early voting in person.

This remains a critical and close election. If you haven’t voted early, make time to cast your ballot Tuesday and participate in one of the most important duties of living in a democracy.
