Open house for upgraded CMU campus in Montrose
Montrose residents will get their first chance to see the newly renovated Colorado Mesa University satellite campus next week.
On Sept. 7, the four-year school will host an open house from 3 to 5 p.m. at the campus, 234 S. Cascade Ave.
The campus received a face-lift this summer, upgrading the 1935 school building into a state-of-the art higher education learning center.
Improvements include a student computer lab, meeting space and areas for group and individual study. Those laboratory additions are not only designed to better accommodate general science classes, but also such health science programs as nursing and medical.
The campus still has the capacity to use video conferencing that links it with other campuses on the Western Slope.
The Montrose campus has 330 students.
The project was paid for by the Montrose Campus Capital Campaign, which has raised about $850,000 toward its $1 million goal.
