Learn to bird band

You don’t have to be a trained ornithologist to enjoy face time with our feathered friends. The Grand Valley Audubon Society is offering a free introduction to bird banding from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. Saturday at the Audubon Society Nature Center on Dike Road near Connected Lakes.

Volunteers from the Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory and the local Audubon Society will be on hand from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m, banding birds and offering insights.

Fall is one of the best times to see a variety of bird species thanks to the influx of migrating birds using the Grand Valley for rest and refueling stops. Bring cameras, notebooks and a sense of curiosity.
