The Palisade Peach Festival kicked off its annual sweet event Thursday at Riverbend Park.

This year’s festival is proving to bigger and better than ever, according to a number of fair-goers Friday afternoon.

“It’s pretty good so far,” said Rick Silva between bites of his fried turkey leg. “I’m going to eat my way through it,” he laughed.

Silva said he likes the peach fest because of the beautiful venue provided by Riverbend Park. “I like the scenery and the shade—I just love it,” he said.

Rod Lobach of Rimrock Kettle Corn said that so far business at the festival had been slow, but “there’s going to be a large amount of people through here Saturday.”

Lobach said he’s the only vendor offering free samples of peach popcorn. “It took me a long time how to figure out how to make peach kettle corn but I’m the only one that has,” he said proudly.

The festival will begin Saturday with the annual Lions Club Pancake Breakfast followed by the peach recipe contest and the Just 4 Fun Car Show. Early arrivals will enjoy a free peach. There will be live chef demonstrations throughout the day. Entertainment will include Rob and Friends, the Swamp Coolers, Stray Grass and Influx.

Sunday the festival will feature the Sunday Farmers Market and the Peddle Paddle Peddle bike and float event.

Admission is $4 per day per adult and $3 per day per child under the age of 5-years-old.

Free parking is available outside the town’s city limits and free shuttle transportation will be provided to Riverbend Park.

Agritours, walking tours, peach cuisine at downtown restaurants and orchard dinners are available. Wagon tours cost $5.
