Pair of bomb threats disrupts nightclub opening

Axis Nightclub, 2993 North Ave., received two bomb threats Saturday on its opening night.

One threat came from inside the club, and another came from outside. The threats happened about 10:30 p.m., said Mary Gonzales with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department.

The club was evacuated and the premises were searched. No bombs were found.

The incident is still under investigation, Gonzales said.

The new nightclub is in the former Rum Bay location.
