Palisade civic center meeting tonight

A meeting about the design of Palisade’s Civic Center will be from 6:30 to 8:30 tonight at the Palisade Community Center, 120 West Eighth St.

The town has architects working on designs to renovate the old high school gymnasium and has secured the needed $1.4 million funding to do that. But there are other decisions about the larger Palisade Civic Center project about which officials would like public comment, said City Manager Tim Sarmo.

The project could include a police station, town offices, offices to be leased to nonprofit organizations and an expanded Palisade branch of the Mesa County Library.

Officials also want to gauge interest in a new fire station somewhere in town or at the site of the old high school, which is at 711 Iowa Ave.

Sarmo said they also want to gauge residents’ interest in a tax question to pay for the project.

For questions, call town administration at 464-5602.
