Palisade extends application deadline in search for trustee
The town of Palisade has extended the deadline for applicants for a vacant seat on the Board of Trustees, hoping that more residents interested in being named to the position will enter the process.
According to Town Administrator Rich Sales, the board was simply convinced that it had not advertised the opportunity for a long enough period of time.
“This is a very interesting time to come on the board, because we’re about to start our budget process for 2013,” Sales said. “So, you’ll get very immersed in all of the workings of the town and the budget and get to set policy with the other six board members in terms of how the money is spent for all of next year.”
People interested for consideration need to send a letter of intent to the town at 175 E. Third St., P.O. Box 128, Palisade 81526.
Applicants only need to be 18 years or older and a registered elector and have lived within town limits for at least 12 months prior to the date of appointment.
The new deadline for letter submittal is Sept. 6.
After receiving the letters, interviews before the board will happen at a work session at 6 p.m. Sept. 12, prior to the board’s regular meeting. Trustees will select the new board member by simple majority ballot.
The vacancy is the result of Trustee Robert Magill resigning his seat in July. The new trustee will serve until the next municipal election, which will happen April 1, 2014.
