Palisade man, 65, arrested
 on charges of dealing pot

A 65-year-old man has been arrested and is facing felony marijuana- and weapons-related charges after a raid and investigation by the Palisade Police Department.

Richard William Brown was arrested on suspicion of marijuana possession with intent to distribute, unlawful marijuana processing, unlawful marijuana cultivation, weapons possession by a special offender and possession of a defaced firearm, the department wrote in a press release Friday.

His arrest followed raid June 30 of a Palisade home at 733 Elberta Ave. based on a search warrant obtained by local and federal authorities.

Palisade officers, members of the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Grand Valley Drug Task Force seized marijuana plants and items related to marijuana cultivation and distribution during the raid.

Brown is expected to be arraigned in Mesa County Court on Monday.

Palisade Police Sgt. John Cooper said Brown was cooperative with law enforcement during the investigation.
