Palisade, Smith grab fourth-place finishes in Cortez

Led by Kyler Smith’s 73, the Palisade High School boys golf team finished fourth at the 13-team Montezuma-Cortez Invitational on Wednesday at Conquistador Golf Club in Cortez.

Palisade totaled 232 strokes, 11 off the pace of Cortez, which won with 221 strokes. Smith’s scored was tied for fourth-place individually

Grand Junction High School tied for sixth with 234 strokes, led by Greg Gibson’s 76, and a stroke behind the Tigers in eighth was Montrose, led by Jacob Hebbel’s 75.

Central High School’s Preston Grandbouche fired a 75 to lead the Warriors.
