Palisade chamber director resigns; board had concerns about 2nd job

Palisade Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Bayley Rogers has resigned after just five months on the job, following a falling out with the chamber’s board of directors.

Bennett Price, a member of the chamber board and a town trustee, said the board had some concerns about Rogers, including the fact she simultaneously was working as the public relations and marketing specialist for Mosaic, a program that provides services for people with developmental disabilities.

“We need somebody who’s going to be there full-time,” Price said of the chamber director.

Chamber Board Chairman Jerome Strack said he was disappointed that Rogers resigned after such a short tenure with the chamber. But he said the board is looking at other candidates who applied previously and believes it can hire another director soon.

Rogers, whose last day on the job was March 11, declined to comment about her resignation.

Rogers previously served as the executive director of the Moab Arts and Recreation Center. She became the chamber director in October after being selected from more than 30 applicants.

She replaced Leif Johnson, who departed in September after 4 1/2 years on the job.
