Petersen takes Club 20 helm

No one can argue that new Club 20 leader Bonnie Petersen is unfamiliar with issues affecting western Colorado.

In addition to family history that goes back more than a century on the Western Slope, she was a long-time representative for Qwest Communications — and its predecessor, Mountain Bell — in this region.

Petersen has served on the Club 20 Board of Directors and been active in organizations ranging from the Home Builders Association to the Grand Junction Economic Partnership.

She also owns and operates her own business, GreenStar Homes, in Grand Junction. And she helped found the Western Colorado Energy Forum and Expo.

In short, Petersen has the background and experience that should serve her well as she replaces Reeves Brown at the helm of Club 20. Brown, who headed Club 20 for 10 years, was chosen by Gov. John Hickenlooper to head the Colorado Department of Local Affairs.

We wish Petersen the best in her new role, leading the only organization that devotes all of its efforts toward informing, lobbying for and advocating on behalf of the entire Western Slope.
