RSSPlayground at Rocket Park reopens

The playground at Rocket Park was reopened Friday morning after being closed this week for repairs.
A construction fence surrounded the popular playground this week while Grand Junction Parks and Recreation crew members made repairs to the well-worn surface rubber, said Mike Vendegna, parks superintendent for the Grand Junction Parks Department.
There were minor cracks in the play surface. Damaged areas of the rubber had to be removed, then replaced with new rubber, Vendegna explained. The new rubber needed several days to cure in which time the playground was closed.
“But now it’s open and the kids are already going crazy over there,” Vendegna said, “It’s a great park and everybody just loves it.”
