Police arrest pair after report of suspected hotel meth lab
Hotel employees found a suspected methamphetamine lab Saturday inside a cooler at the Affordable Inn, 721 Horizon Drive.
A desk clerk who wished to be identified only as Amy said housekeepers found incriminating materials during daily checks Saturday morning.
“We had a meth lab in Room 225,” Amy said.
A man and a woman were taken into police custody later in the day. Three Grand Junction police officers questioned the pair Saturday evening in the Quality Inn parking lot at 733 Horizon Drive and searched the woman before placing her in handcuffs and tucking her into the back of a squad car. The man was already in the back of a separate squad car.
The two people were interviewed by police later that night about their potential connection to the meth lab, which was not active at the time it was found, police said.
Summit Environmental Response Team members sorted and packed bottles, at least one of which was labeled acid. The team also had a cooler, tubes and a bed sheet as it worked Saturday evening behind the Affordable Inn.
