Auto theft suspected
Kenneth John James, 41, 430 Chipeta Ave., No. 18, was arrested and booked into Mesa County Jail on Monday on suspicion of stealing a car.
A Grand Junction police officer pulled over James on suspicion of speeding 10 to 19 mph over the speed limit in a construction zone at 5:30 a.m. Jan. 23 in the area of 12th Street and North Avenue.
Later that day, the owner of the 1995 red Saturn that James was driving at the time of the stop called to report the vehicle had been stolen overnight from the 1800 block of Main Street.
The car was found a few days after it was taken, according to the Grand Junction Police Department.
An officer found James with a warrant in his name early Monday morning and arrested him on suspicion of first-degree aggravated motor vehicle theft, criminal mischief, not having motor vehicle insurance, and speeding.
According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department:

■ Medications were stolen Saturday in the 100 block of Brentwood Drive.
■ Deputies took a report Wednesday of a boy under age 18 receiving threats in the 3600 block of G Road.
