Police hope to identify potential witness to assault
Grand Junction police are hoping the public can help identify a man shown on surveillance from the Albertson’s store in the Redlands, who is a potential witness to a brutal assault that happened sometime overnight between Friday, Dec. 3 and Saturday, Dec. 4 near the Grand Ave. Bridge.
A homeless man, 30-year-old Thomas J. Mundlin, is currently in the Mesa County Jail on attempted first-degree murder charges. The victim in the beating remains at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Police note that the unidentified man seen walking out of the store with Mundlin is not a suspect in this case, rather he is a potential witness to the events leading up to the assault. Investigators only wish to speak with him to see if he has information that can help with the investigation.
If anyone has information about this incident they can call the Grand Junction Police Department at 242-6707, call Crime Stoppers at 241-STOP, send the information via the web at http://www.241stop.com, or text a tip to CRIMES (274637) with the word TIP729 in the message. The identity of the person providing the information will remain anonymous.
