Police seek suspect in attacks of 2 women

The Grand Junction Police Department is asking for the public’s help in capturing a man who has strong-armed two women, attempting to kidnap one, in the last two weeks in the area of F 1/2 and 30 roads.

On Nov. 19, near the intersection of Kia Drive and Faircloud Way, a woman checking her mail was attacked by a man who grabbed her from behind “and tried to carry her away,” police said.  The woman escaped but was unable to provide a description of her attacker.

On Monday in the 2900 block of Brookwood Drive, a woman unlocked her garage door and found a man inside. He grabbed her, pushed her against a wall and ran off, police said.

It is unclear if the two incidents are related, police said.

The man in the second incident is described as taller than 5 feet 7 inches, wearing a dark-colored, hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, and white tennis shoes, police said.

Police ask anyone with information or who would like to report suspicious activity in the neighborhood, to call 244-3775. If there is an immediate threat, police advise residents to call 911.
