Police seek witnesses in fatal D 1/2 Road crash

Grand Junction police are hoping for the public’s help in piecing together the events that led up to a fatal crash that happened just after midnight on Wednesday, Jan. 19 on D 1/2 Rd.

Police have identified the second passenger in the car — 35-year-old Jason Wayne Shriver of Grand Junction.  He remains at St. Mary’s Hospital. The other passenger, who died at the scene, has been identified as 39-year-old Shannon I. Gallegos of Grand Junction.

Investigators, however, are still trying to determine who was driving the vehicle, and are asking the public to provide any information that can help retrace the events leading up to the crash.

“We are hoping potential witnesses who may have seen Mr. Shriver or Mr. Gallegos on the night of Tuesday, January 18 will contact us with that information by calling 242-6707.  If people wish to remain anonymous they can call Crime Stoppers at 241-STOP,” police said in a release.
