Cyclist injured on trail
A 45-year-old Colorado Springs man is in the hospital after he fell about 35 feet while mountain biking on the Kokopelli Trail on Sunday, the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department said.
The man was taken to the hospital by ambulance after he tumbled down an embankment around 12:30 p.m., sheriff’s spokeswoman Mary Gonzales said.
Gonzales didn’t know the man’s condition.
Alcohol arrest made
A Grand Junction man was arrested early Saturday morning on suspicion he bought alcohol for a 16-year-old girl.
Kyle Woods, 21, 1140 Walnut Ave., No. 37, was jailed on suspicion of a felony count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The girl told police she and her friend had gone to a nearby apartment to spend Friday evening with the girl’s boyfriend. She said Woods came to the apartment with a 12-pack of beer and a bottle of vodka and gave her two beers, according to an arrest affidavit.
Police said they could smell alcohol on the girl’s breath after they were called to the apartment complex on a report of an argument, the affidavit said.
Driver arrested on I-70
A Grand Junction man was arrested Saturday on suspicion he eluded Colorado State Patrol troopers after they tried to pull him over for a traffic violation.
Jesus Benjamin Romero, 22, 1036 Rood Ave., was arrested on eastbound Interstate 70 at mile marker 9, the State Patrol said. He was jailed on suspicion of vehicular eluding, reckless driving, speeding and having no proof of insurance.
According to the Grand Junction Police Department:
A vandal broke into a home in the 2700 block of Unaweep Avenue on Saturday and caused less than $1,000 damage to property inside.
A vandal broke into an unoccupied home in the area of 29 1/4 and D roads on Thursday and caused less than $1,000 damage.
According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department:
Matthew Andrew Abeyta, 21, of Delta was arrested Saturday after he was stopped by police in the area of 32 1/2 Road and Front Street. He was jailed on suspicion of violating bail-bond conditions, tampering with evidence, violating a protection order, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with an expired license.
Ashleigh Lauren Holloway, 18, 1240 M 1/2 Road, was arrested Saturday in the 2700 block of U.S. Highway 50 on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, tampering with evidence and violating bail-bond conditions.
Jesse Curtis Langstaff, 18, of Douglasville, Ga., was arrested Saturday on a warrant on suspicion of identity theft and theft of between $500 and $1,000.
Eric Myers, 45, address unavailable, was issued a summons Saturday on suspicion of unauthorized use of a debit card that didn’t belong to him.
A woman living in the 3200 block of Lorene Drive reported Saturday that a neighbor trespassed on her property to shoot her cat with a BB gun.
