Trash collector finds pistol
A garbage collector reported finding a pistol in a recycle bin while doing the rounds Friday in the 600 block of Stan Drive, according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department.
The .32-caliber starter pistol was sitting in the bin next to some blanks, the Sheriff’s Department said. The items were taken to the Sheriff’s Department and booked into evidence.
According to the Grand Junction Police Department:
Chasity Smith, 29, was issued a summons Thursday on suspicion of stealing items valued at less than $1,000 from Rite Aid, 1834 N. 12th St.
Michael McClellan, 34, was issued a summons Thursday on suspicion he attempted to steal items valued at $499 from a business at Mesa Mall.
Michael Manual Visuano, 47, was issued a summons Thursday on suspicion of shoplifting at 200 Rood Ave.
A thief took an exercise machine stored in a driveway at a home in Wichita Court on Friday.
According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department:
A man rang a doorbell Friday in the 100 block of Sunlight Drive and then began opening the door until the homeowner yelled at him. The man ran away.
Deputies responded to a report Friday in the 3100 block of Hill Avenue for a welfare check on children. Deputies determined that although a mother was intoxicated, her children were in good health and under the care of multiple adults.
A burglar attempted to break into a locked vehicle in the 500 block of Village Way on Saturday.
Deputies on Saturday responded to multiple reports about vandals damaging vehicles in Mesa County.
