The Mesa County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the death of a man found floating in a canal Saturday off 23 Road. The man was described as a white male in his 20s, said Mary Gonzales, spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Department. A resident of the area where the man was found called authorities at about 11 a.m. Saturday.

Clifton cars vandalized

The Mesa County Sheriff’s Department received at least eight complaints from residents in the 3200 block of Bunting Avenue and the 500 block of Sara Lane, both in Clifton, on reports that vehicles were spray painted sometime Thursday night or early Friday morning, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

According to the reports, nearly $4,000 in damage was done to the eight cars.

Also, at 11:25 a.m. Friday, a woman in the 500 block of 32 1/8 Road in Clifton reported the words “Goon Squad” were spray-painted on the outside door of her residence.

According to the Grand Junction Police Department:

Chad Johnson, 38, was arrested and ticketed Friday on suspicion of assault and causing less than $1,000 in damage a vehicle in the 2800 block of North Avenue.

According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department:

A woman said she found a large amount of money in the roadway in the area of 26 1/2 Road and Cottonwood Drive on Friday. She told authorities that when she started to pick it up, some men took it from her and left the area.

Someone toilet-papered the trees in front of a home in the 2000 block of Tiffany Drive on Friday.

A person reported Friday that a neighbor’s goat got stuck on a fence and died in the 3000 block of Rood Avenue.

The person asked authorities to contact the neighbor about the dead goat and check on the welfare of the remaining 25 goats on the property.
