DUI driver pleads guilty
A Montrose man accused of killing his 8-year-old son and injuring two others in a drunken-driving crash in April pleaded guilty in court Monday to charges in the case.
Juan Jose Prieto-Gonzalez, 32, pleaded guilty to DUI-related vehicular homicide and two counts of vehicular assault for injuring two others in another vehicle during the April 5 crash in Olathe.
Prieto-Gonzalez could receive up to 10 years in prison when he is sentenced by a judge Feb. 3.
Man accused of assault
A Grand Junction man was arrested Monday on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl.
Mesa County sheriff’s investigators allege Michael Keith Victor Hilton, 25, 2987 Globe Willow Ave., molested the girl Nov. 5.
According to an arrest affidavit, Hilton has been arrested twice before in Colorado for sexual assault on a child. He was charged in Mesa County in 2004, but the charges were dismissed because the alleged victim was found incompetent to testify at trial. He also was charged in Montrose County in 2002 but found not guilty at trial.
Hilton is being held in the Mesa County Jail on $25,000 bond.

Andy Berumen, 18, address unavailable, was issued a summons on suspicion of criminal mischief after he allegedly damaged property in the 2500 block of Van Buren Avenue on Monday.
Sindy Vazquez, 28, address unavailable, was issued a summons Sunday on suspicion of theft after she allegedly stole merchandise from a store at Mesa Mall.
Someone stole a vehicle from the 900 block of Hill Avenue on Monday.
Someone entered two vehicles in the 400 block of Tanner Street on Monday, stealing less than $500 in items from one of them.
According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department:
Larry Eugene Phelps, 24, homeless, was arrested Monday on a warrant alleging two counts of identity theft and two counts of first-degree forgery. He also was arrested on a warrant for failing to appear in court.
A man living in the 3100 block of Sharptail Street reported Monday that someone entered his vehicle and stole more than $1,000 in items.
Someone entered two unlocked vehicles in the 600 block of Peace Drive on Monday and stole some $2 in change.
