Stop leads to drug arrest
A traffic stop Sunday night involving two Grand Junction men resulted in arrest after sheriff’s deputies located suspected drugs inside the vehicle, according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department.
Jon Kent Mallow, 51, 583 Kirby Lane, was arrested on suspicion of drug distribution and possession of drug paraphernalia, and Matthew Joseph Stapleton, 442 Colorow Drive, 21, was arrested on suspicion of drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license and being wanted on a warrant.
According to the arrest affidavit, a sheriff’s deputy recognized the driver of a vehicle in the 2900 block of the Interstate 70 Business Loop as Matthew Stapleton, 21, a person whom he knew had a suspended driver’s license and a warrant out for his arrest. Deputies noticed drug paraphernalia in the vehicle including a small metal spoon, several hypodermic needles, a plastic spoon with white residue and a small baggie containing a white substance.
According to the Grand Junction Police Department:
Property valued at more than $1,000 was stolen Jan. 21 from a vehicle parked in the 500 block of Gunnison Avenue.
According to the Colorado State Patrol:
Latika Janelle Robinson, 25, Las Vegas, was arrested on suspicion of drug possession and several traffic violations.
