Arson suspected at Montrose school
Montrose police Cmdr. Gene Lillard said an investigation continues into suspected arson fires Monday in two boys bathrooms at Montrose High School.
Authorities were called out in the morning hours after a report of a small fire involving a soap dispenser in a lower-level bathroom at the school. Hours later, a fire involving a toilet-paper dispenser was reported in another boys bathroom on the second floor.
Neither of the fires led to the evacuation of the building, and there were no injuries.
According to the Grand Junction Police Department:
Ashley Nicole Canaday, 21, 3468 E Road, No. 34, was arrested Monday on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to yield after she was contacted in the area of 13th Street and Orchard Avenue.
Patrick Lynn Racine, 40, 2236A1 North 17th St., was arrested at his apartment Monday on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Two juvenile females, ages 14 and 16, were arrested Monday on suspicion they shoplifted less than $100 worth of merchandise from Mesa Mall. The girls provided officers with false names and dates of birth when contacted.
A thief entered a home in the 2800 block of Kelso Mesa Drive on Monday, stole property valued at more than $1,000 and caused less than $500 in damage.
According to the Delta Police Department:
Danielle Jones, 25, Delta, was arrested Sunday on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving, failure to remain at the scene of an accident and failure to notify police of an accident. She was booked after the vehicle she was driving went off the road and struck a tree near the intersection of East Seventh Street and Leon Street. Jones had minor injuries, and the vehicle had to be towed from the scene.
Jennifer St. Peter, 29, Delta, was issued a summons Friday on suspicion of failure to yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian in a crosswalk after her vehicle hit a pedestrian at Fourth and Main streets. No injuries were reported.
John Plotner, 40, Delta, was arrested Friday on suspicion of animal cruelty and criminal mischief.
