Animal abuse alleged
A Grand Junction man on parole was arrested Monday on a warrant for allegedly twice throwing down a small dog and threatening to kill a neighbor who objected to the animal abuse, according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department.
Roger T. Pitcher, 44, was in Mesa County Jail on suspicion of cruelty to animals, menacing and driving under the influence of alcohol with a restrained license.
According to an arrest affidavit, Pitcher was seen Feb. 28 in the front yard of a home in the 1800 block of Bunting Avenue, twice picking up a small white dog over his head and throwing it to the ground. A neighbor who intervened said Pitcher, who appeared to be intoxicated, said, “I’ll kill you.” Pitcher then got behind the wheel of a truck and parked in front of the neighbor’s home and appeared to have a weapon in his hand, before driving off, the affidavit said.
According to the Grand Junction Police Department:
Heather Myrick, 32, was issued a summons Feb. 23 on suspicion she caused bodily harm to a person in the 1600 block of North Avenue.
Sandra M. Steward, 51, was issued a summons Monday on suspicion she stole less than $200 in cash from her employer in the 2800 block of North Avenue.
According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department:
A man in the 3100 block of E Road found four wallets in the area Monday. The wallets were possibly related to a string of thefts in the area.
A person on Monday contacted a suspect in the act of breaking into a vehicle in the 3200 block of Front Street. The suspect fled upon being contacted.
