Explosion destroys cabin
A Sunday morning propane explosion destroyed a two-person cabin at Mesa Lakes Resort on Grand Mesa, according to a resort employee.
A fire started as a result of the explosion, but it did not spread to any other buildings at the resort, the employee said.
No one was injured in the explosion, and no one was staying in the cabin at the time.
Victor Barrera, 30, 535 W. Aspen Ave. Fruita, was arrested Saturday on suspicion of forgery, possession of a forged instrument, criminal impersonation and driving without a valid license after a traffic stop, according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department.
Barrera forged copies of someone else’s Social Security card and identification card, Barrera’s arrest affidavit alleged.
According to the Grand Junction Police Department:
Lawrence Richard Owings, 37, 544 Holly Park Drive, Fruita, was arrested Sunday on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A thief stole a wallet in the 1100 block of North Avenue on Friday and attempted to use a stolen credit card.
A thief cut a fence and entered Liqui-Green, 570 S. Commercial Drive, on Saturday and stole more than $1,000 in property.
According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department:
Janine Marie McPhail, 44, 658 Alan Way, was arrested Saturday on suspicion of obstruction of an officer and misdemeanor child abuse.
The Mesa County Sheriff’s Department conducted liquor compliance checks Saturday. Five summonses were issued to people on suspicion of selling alcohol to minors.
According to Colorado State Patrol:
Wendy Kay Josephson, 30, 68465 30 Road in Montrose, was arrested Saturday on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
