Man accused of sex assault
Mitchell W. Holmes, 40, 702 30 Road, was arrested Friday by Mesa County Sheriff’s Department deputies on suspicion of two counts of sexual assault on a child.
According to an arrest affidavit, authorities were called out to a local school after a social services worker reported that a teenage girl, along with another child, were fondled by Holmes roughly one year ago. The girl told deputies that Holmes was intoxicated during the incident.
3 booked on drug charges
James R. Arias, 26, 281 27 Road, Douglas B. Alexander, 64, 530 29 Road, and Lori Barker, 29, 530 29 Road, were arrested Friday on suspicion of drug-related offenses after Mesa County deputies received an anonymous tip that several people inside a home at 530 29 Road were smoking methamphetamine.
An affidavit said deputies entered the home after they saw a marijuana pipe on a table. Deputies searched the home and found less than a gram of suspected meth in a coin-sized bag in a bathroom.
Man hurt in ATV wreck
The rider of an all-terrain vehicle was flown by helicopter to St. Mary’s Hospital after an accident around 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the base of the Bookcliffs, five miles north of the 29 Road entrance to the riding area. The rider was not wearing a helmet. His identity was not released, and The Daily Sentinel was unable to get an update on his condition Saturday night.
According to the Grand Junction Police Department:
A known suspect caused serious bodily injury to another person Friday at 525 S. Sixth St.
Charles L. Coffman Jr., 38, address unavailable, was issued a summons Friday on suspicion of misdemeanor abuse of a child under 16 years old.
Someone broke into a vehicle parked in the 3500 block of North 12th Street early Friday, causing more than $1,000 in damage while stealing several items.
A home in the 100 block of West Avenue was burglarized Wednesday. The loss was estimated at less than $100.
According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department:
Deputies believe a known felon has pawned numerous handguns at a local pawn shop. The case remains under investigation.
A man fled from the scene after he was struck by a vehicle Friday at the intersection of D 1/2 and 32 1/8 roads. The driver believed the man was hurt.
