Alleged heroin found

A traffic stop by police outside Moab, Utah, on Thursday led to two arrests and the seizure of 4 pounds of heroin.

Ramon Romero-Palma, 33, and Abelardo Lores, 69, both of Albuquerque, N.M., were jailed on suspicion of second-degree felony drug possession and minor traffic violations, according to the Grand County Sheriff’s Department.

The vehicle the men were riding in was pulled over for unspecified minor traffic offenses around 1:30 a.m. Thursday on Utah Highway 191, around milepost 121.

A consensual search of the vehicle turned up 4 pounds of “high-grade” brown crystal heroin, which was hidden in a compartment in the vehicle, according to Grand County authorities.

The Sheriff’s Department estimated the street value of the drugs was nearly $80,000.

According to the Grand Junction Police Department:

Anthony Austin Dorman, 38, 585 25 1/2 Road, No. 48, was arrested Friday on suspicion of a felony charge of driving as a habitual offender and other charges related to driving under the influence of alcohol.

Ronald L. McKnight, 62, 519 Compton St., was arrested Friday on suspicion of drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Devan Marie Bettcher, 25, 2601 Belford Ave., was arrested Saturday on suspicion of second-degree auto theft, drug possession, marijuana possession and driving with a suspended license.

According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department:

A caller reported observing a man and a woman fighting Friday in front of a home in the 3000 block of Hill Avenue. The people went inside the home before deputies arrived, and no one would answer the door. The case was cleared.

Sean David Sprout, 33, of Glenwood Springs, was arrested Friday on suspicion of criminal impersonation, obstruction of a police officer, being a fugitive of another jurisdiction, possession of drugs and a parole violation.

Adan Prieto-Avila, 20, 2837 North Ave., B22, was arrested Friday on suspicion of criminal impersonation and possessing alcohol as a minor, and he was wanted on a warrant.

Kevin Lynn Marconnette, 45, 773 25 Road was arrested Saturday on suspicion of drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Lorin Eric Hunt, 44, 1049 White Ave., was arrested Saturday on suspicion of drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and a parole violation.

According to the Colorado State Patrol:

Douglas Edward James, 25, Las Vegas, was arrested Saturday on suspicion of second-degree burglary, two counts of felony theft of $1,000 to $20,000, and misdemeanor criminal mischief.
