Hunter found southeast of Battlement Mesa
A 60-year-old man who spent Saturday night outdoors after failing to return to a hunting camp was found without injuries by searchers Sunday morning, according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department.
The hunter was with a party in the Hightower Mountain area in the Grand Mesa National Forest southeast of Battlement Mesa. Deputies and 28 volunteers with the Mesa County Search and Rescue ground team searched for the man until nightfall Saturday.
He was found around 9:30 a.m. Sunday, wearing warm clothing.
According to the Grand Junction Police Department:
A thief stole jewelry valued at more than $10,000 from a home in the 2200 block of Idella Court on Wednesday.
Cathy Strohm, 35, received a summons on suspicion of shoplifting items valued at less than $500 from 2424 U.S. Highway 6&50.
A 10-year-old boy received a summons on suspicion of shoplifting items valued at less than $100 from a business at 636 Market St.
According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department:
Deputies on Saturday night responded to the 500 block of Peachwood Drive after a report of gunshots being fired. Residents said they heard two loud bangs, but deputies found no problems after they checked on three nearby homes.
A man in the 1000 block of Interstate 70 Business Loop reported Saturday afternoon that a Hispanic man took a pair of boots valued at about $180. Deputies searched the area and did not find the suspect.
