Police investigate girl’s fall from vehicle near Fruita

Authorities remained tight-lipped Sunday about a 17-year-old Fruita Monument High School student who was seriously injured after she fell from a moving vehicle north of Fruita.

Mesa County sheriff’s spokeswoman Mary Gonzales said Sunday investigators are continuing to look into what caused the girl to fall from the vehicle early Saturday morning along 18 Road between M and N roads.

The girl was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital. Gonzales declined to release the girl’s name or condition, as well as the name of the driver.
