Pollard will stay open, sans Jeep

Pollard Brothers Motors in Montrose will remain in business, just not with the Jeep franchise.

Chrysler is withdrawing its franchise agreement with the dealership, but the dealership still will offer Jeep service, owner Jeff Pollard said.

Pollard is among 13 Chrysler franchises in Colorado that the manufacturer is revoking as it works its way through bankruptcy.

“We’ll still have the best service department in town,” Jeff Pollard said. “We just won’t be able to do warranty work.”

Chrysler’s rejection of his Jeep franchise won’t help the manufacturer, Pollard said.

Pollard has had the dealership for 25 years, and customers are familiar with them, he said.

“They’re shooting themselves in the foot as far as I can tell,” he said. “I just don’t agree with their philosophy.”

Pollard wasn’t immediately aware that his dealership was among those released by Chrysler, which notified dealers by letter delivered by UPS on Thursday.

His father received the letter Thursday morning, and Jeff didn’t see it until later, he said.

Another Jeep dealership, Cook Chevrolet in Craig, lost its franchise, but Victory Motors in Craig remains with Chrysler.
