Principal gets goat kissed

Principal Damon Lockhart kissed a goat Wednesday afternoon.

Bright red lipstick was slathered on the lips of Principal Damon Lockhart of Independence Academy Charter School Wednesday while his students chanted “Kiss A Goat!”

The the tube was applied to the lips of the unsuspecting goat too, much to the delight and shrill screams of the children watching.

Lockhart puckered up, grabbed the beard of the animal, and really laid one on it.

“Look he’s blushing,” laughed the teachers, all too happy it wasn’t them who had to kiss a beast for a good cause.

The students demanded an encore so Lockhart reapplied his ruby red lips and smooched away for a second time.

“It wasn’t bad,” he laughed while wiping lipstick and goat germs off his nose.

Lockhart congratulated the students who raised $1,125. 12 to be donated to the Homeward Bound Homeless Shelter. The money was raised during the school’s annual “Change For Change” fund drive that ended March 4. The drive asks students and community members to donate their spare change to a good cause.

“These people have no housing, no shelter, and I’m very proud of each and every one of you who gave to the shelter,” Lockhart said.

Lockhart explained that not only does the fund drive help the shelter, it teaches his students to give back to the community that they live in.

After the check presentation, the students were treated to ice cream sandwiches as an award for a job well done.
