Program to show how Montrose company makes yurts
A Montrose business will be showcased during two upcoming episodes of a cable TV show.
Colorado Yurt Co., 28 W. South Fourth St., will be featured in two segments of the Science Channel series “How It’s Made.”
Employees from the small business will explain how the 25-person company makes custom-order yurts and tepees in Montrose.
The first episode airs Thursday, and the company is having a viewing party at 7 p.m. at RNR Sports Bar, 35 N. Uncompahgre Ave., in Montrose.
The second episode featuring Colorado Yurt Co.‘s work airs later this month. Check local listings for program scheduling at science.discovery.com/tv-shows/how-its-made/tv-schedule.htm.
Ivy Fife, marketing manager for the Montrose business, said the company was contacted about appearing on the show last year and a camera crew for the Science Channel arrived last fall to catch three days worth of footage: Two days putting the tepees and yurts together and one day on scene near the base of Mount Sneffels.
“It was one of those beautiful fall days with snow on the peaks,” Fife said.
Fife said the camera crew was “wonderful to work with,” and everyone at Colorado Yurt Company “was really excited” to have the chance to showcase the company’s products.
Other than The Coffee Trader, which fielded the daily coffee order from Colorado Yurt Co. to accommodate the guests, few in Montrose likely knew a TV camera crew was in town, Fife said.
