Some protesters who filled Lincoln Park on Saturday morning came from locations much farther than across town.

Members of at least a half-dozen organizations attended the event sponsored by the Western Slope Conservative Alliance, said alliance organizer Dennis White. Attendees came from the local organizations of 9-12 Project, a nationwide movement sparked by Fox News personality Glenn Beck; the Independence Caucus; We the People; and 9-12 and tea party groups from the Front Range, White said.

The Independence Caucus is a conservative group unhappy with government spending habits. We the People is a pro-constitution group.

White said Grand Junction tea party organizers, who formed the Western Slope Conservative Alliance shortly after the April 15 tea party event in Grand Junction, sent e-mails to 2,700 people who attended the April event. They also contacted people through the other organizations mentioned above.
