Go-kart racer died on impact, coroner says

The 9-year-old girl whose go-kart collided on Sunday with a trailer died immediately on impact, the Mesa County Coroner’s Office said.

Taybor L. Duncan of Aurora, who was wearing safety gear, suffered multiple injuries in the collision at the Grand Junction Motor Speedway, the coroner’s office said.

Duncan was driving on the track about 8:45 a.m. when her go-kart struck the trailer, witnesses said.

The manner of death was accidental, the coroner’s office said.
