Remains in Larimer not confirmed flood-related

LOVELAND — Human remains were discovered Monday in flood ravaged Larimer County, but there was no immediate confirmation whether they belong to the lone unaccounted-for person.

The Reporter-Herald reports that two contract workers for the Environmental Protection Agency discovered the remains in a debris field west of Loveland Monday afternoon (http://bit.ly/18Lfg87 ).

The workers had been doing hazardous material assessments in the area.

The Larimer County Coroner will provide the identification and manner and cause of death after performing an autopsy and notifying next of kin.

Just one person remains unaccounted for after the September flooding, Patty Goodwine of the Cedar Cove area of the Big Thompson Canyon.

On Sept. 13, the 60-year-old was swept away by floodwaters that took her home, where she lived for 37 years.
