Renowned photographer Fielder promotes new book on ranches
Renowned Colorado photographer John Fielder is making a Grand Junction appearance this week.
At 7 p.m. Tuesday, Fielder will present a slide show featuring 250 photographs he took during the past two years while working on his new book, “Ranches of Colorado.”
Glade Park’s Aubert Ranch, a 3,700-acre property, is featured in the book that highlights 50 Colorado ranches.
The presentation at Museum of Western Colorado is free and open to the public.
“We can’t wait,” said Barbara Chamberlin, a member of the Mesa Land Trust’s board of directors.
The Mesa Land Trust is bringing Fielder to Grand Junction. He is promoting his new 235-page book with local land trusts throughout Colorado. Mesa Land Trust is trying to raise awareness for the work it does to conserve working farms and ranches such as the ones featured in Fielder’s new book.
Copies of “Ranches of Colorado” will be available to purchase Tuesday with a portion of the sales benefiting Mesa Land Trust. Fielder plans to autograph every book sold.
A silent auction featuring a Fielder print of the Aubert Ranch also is planned to benefit the Mesa Land Trust.
Chamberlin has met Fielder before and is excited to shake his hand again Tuesday.
“He is the coolest guy in the world,” she said.
