U.S. Rep. Scott Tipton, R-Colo., collected more than $190,000 in campaign contributions during the first quarter of 2011.

Tipton, who owns a pottery store in Cortez, is in his first year representing the 3rd Congressional District, which covers most of the Western Slope and much of southern Colorado. He faces election in 2012.

Tipton raised $1.2 million in his successful 2010 bid.

Tipton’s 2012 war chest represented an average contribution of $249. Most of Tipton’s contributors, 83 percent, were from Colorado, his campaign said in a statement.
