Rollover on G Road claims woman’s life

A 25-year-old Grand Junction woman died late Thursday in a rollover crash on G Road at 33 Road near Clifton, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

The woman, whose name was not released pending notification of next of kin, was traveling west on G Road when she approached a sharp left curve at 33 Road, according to the patrol’s preliminary investigation.

Prior to reaching the curve, her vehicle, a 1988 Toyota SR-5 pickup, traveled off the right side of the road and began to rotate counter-clockwise, according to patrol Sgt. Aaron Laing.

After traveling off the road for a distance, the vehicle rolled three-fourths of a time and came to rest on its left side facing southwest, Laing said.

Alcohol is considered a contributing factor in the crash, which remains under investigation, he said.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by the Mesa County Coroner’s Office.
