Sales of fan-wear are steadily increasing as the inaugural game for the Grand Junction Rockies draws near.

B & H Sports, 599 Northgate Drive, is the official supplier of GJ Rockies apparel. Since early March, the business has been working steadily on printing the new team’s logo on caps, t-shirts, polo shirts, and sweatshirts to supply not only their store, but all the apparel booths at the stadium.

After the exhibition game last weekend, the store received a marked increase in sales.

“Friday and Saturday were huge days for us,” said Hugo Walters, general manager of the printing company.

GJ Rockies fans are snatching up t-shirts and ball caps in particular. The “trucker” hats sold out and nearly everything with an inaugural logo will soon follow.

“The inaugural logos have just gone crazy,” Walters said, adding one of the surprisingly hot sellers has been the collared Polo shirts.

Right now, the company is busy printing more merchandise so the stadium is fully-stocked on opening day. New items will shortly follow such as straw gambler hats and jerseys.

“We’ve printed hundreds of t-shirts and a diverse group of people are coming in to buy stuff,” Walters said, “Business has been very good and we’re getting it from a lot of different markets.”

Cost of the apparel is the same in the stadium and at the store.

“Overall, this whole Rockies experience has been great for the valley, from the elderly, to businessmen to families,” Walters said.

The Grand Junction Rockies opening day takes place June 23. Gates open at 4:30 p.m. and the game starts at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are available online at GJRockies.com, at all City Markets or at box office at Suplizio Field.
