Saturday is Grand Mesa Moose Day
A short list of some things “moose.”
Mark “Moose” Messier, former National Hockey League player and six-time Stanley Cup winner;
Moose, the Jack Russell terrier that played Eddie on the TV show “Frasier;”
Moose Mason, the stereotypical jock in the comic series “Archie;”
Moose Head beer and Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada, where locals are known as “Moose Javians”;
And, of course, Bullwinkle J. Moose, the guileless Canadian protagonist of “Rocky and His Friends” and “The Bullwinkle Show”.
Which brings us to Saturday, aka Grand Mesa Moose Day.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife is partnering with the U.S. Forest Service and others to offer this free day of moose-centric events for the entire family.
Activities include kids hikes, puppet shows, prize giveaways and presentations on moose biology, viewing tips and how to transplant moose.
As Bullwinkle would say, “Nothing up my sleeve.”
