School board candidate forums set
District 51 School Board candidates will sit for three public forums in the first half of this month before Nov. 5 election ballots begin arriving in local mailboxes during the third week of October.
This Thursday, parent-teacher organizations or associations from 12 elementary schools will sponsor a candidate forum from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Grand Junction City Hall auditorium, 250 N. The PTA/PTO groups are from Appleton, Broadway, Chipeta, Orchard Avenue, Pomona, Rim Rock, Rocky Mountain, Scenic, Shelledy, Taylor and Wingate elementary schools and Dual Immersion Academy.
Next week, the Grand Junction Area Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a forum from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the chamber office, 360 Grand Ave. Candidates will be asked about business-related issues.
All candidates have been invited to attend the event, which is open to chamber members and non-members. Online registration is available through Sunday at gjchamber.org.
