School Board ties, doesn’t pick a new member

District 51 School Board members reached an impasse Tuesday night following interviews with six candidates for the board’s District C seat.

The seat, left vacant by the June 2 death of former board member Harry Butler, was set to be filled at tonight’s meeting. However, the four remaining board members were unable to reach a three-person voting majority so no decision was made.

The board’s president, Greg Mikolai, will pick the eventual appointee if the board cannot make a decision before a 60-day vacancy-filling deadline set by state statute. That 60-day period ends tomorrow.
