Sex assault on a child alleged

A Grand Junction man was arrested early Sunday morning on suspicion of sexually assaulting a minor.

Matthew Adolf Stock, 39, was booked into Mesa County Jail after Mesa County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a possible sexual assault in progress. A witness told a deputy she observed Stock through a window with his pants down in a bedroom, according to an arrest affidavit.

The witness said adults were drinking beer outside the residence at the time, while some children watched television inside the residence. The witness said she could see through the window because it had no curtains.

A few people raced inside the home after the witness alerted them to what she saw. Those people reportedly saw Stock with his belt undone, pulling up a girl’s underpants, according to the affidavit. The girl told medical staff Stock touched her private parts.

Stock said he “blacked out” and could not remember what happened, according to the affidavit.
