Shooting suspect in custody

A man wanted on suspicion of attempted murder in the May 31 shooting at Chateau Apartments surrendered to police Tuesday.

Robert Roy Rodriguez, 22, called authorities around 2:30 p.m., saying he wanted to turn himself in, and he was taken into custody without incident at the C&F Foods Store at 28 1/2 Road and North Avenue, according to Grand Junction Police Department spokeswoman Kate Porras.

Rodriguez was booked into Mesa County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder and a parole violation, according to jail booking records.

Police have said the victim of the May 31 shooting is a man who lived on the third floor of Chateau Apartments. He suffered multiple wounds,  but Porras declined to discuss his condition. Police have not released the victim’s identity.
