Sinks, urinals, toilets destroyed
at Long Family Park by vandals

Two of the restrooms at Long Family Park were heavily vandalized.

Visitors at Long Family Memorial Park will have to use portable toilets for now, until Mesa County is able to repair the restrooms, which were damaged by vandals on Monday.

The vandalism will cost $5,000 or more to repair, Travis Haldeman, crew lead at the park, said.

“It’s going to be down for a while,” Haldeman said, noting that “lots of people” are expected to attend several events scheduled at the park in the coming weeks.

Sinks, toilets and urinals were shattered in the men’s and women’s restrooms, but there is little hint as to the identity of the vandals because the security camera that is normally trained on the building was not operating at the time, Haldeman said.

Past team practices at the park ended between 6 and 6:30 p.m. Monday and one of the regular visitors who walks the park daily reported the vandalism about 7 a.m. Tuesday, Haldeman said
