Snowball fight! Denver storm lures out plows, fun seekers

DENVER — Colorado Department of Transportation snowplow drivers are bracing for up to five inches of snow in parts of the Denver area before a storm system moves out.

Rain started turning to snow in the Denver area late Wednesday. The storm provoked an impromptu snowball fight that drew scores of students out to the University of Colorado Boulder’s Farrand Field in the dark.

CDOT expects more heavy snow Thursday night.

Denver’s Road Home, which is working to end homelessness in the city, says that if shelters for families, women and children fill up during the storm, families, women and children will receive a motel voucher for the night. A temporary emergency shelter is being opened in a recreation center for homeless men during the storm.
