Solar energy workshop in Rifle Friday

Solar energy workshop in Rifle Friday

The public is invited to a free solar energy workshop in Rifle on Friday.

Speakers will discuss ways to maximize solar energy, including through efforts to create a “clean energy corridor” from Parachute to Vail to Aspen. Such a corridor would help diversify the economy, create jobs, and build on regional economies of scale and momentum, proponents say.

Representatives with Xcel Energy, Holy Cross Energy and the Colorado Solar Industries Association will be among the speakers.

The event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Rifle Branch Library, 207 East Ave. Lunch will be provided for those registering by noon on Thursday. People may register at solar-2017.eventbrite.com.

The event is sponsored by Garfield Clean Energy, the Aspen-based Community Office for Resource Efficiency, and the Carbondale-based Clean Energy Economy for the Region.
