Soldier drowns in Fort Carson reservoir

FORT CARSON — Fort Carson says a soldier has drowned in a reservoir on the post.

The Army says the 22-year-old was trying to retrieve a boat that had drifted away after it was launched on Townsend reservoir on Sunday.

His name hasn’t been released.

Authorities say rescuers performed CPR on the soldier. He was declared dead at Evans Army Community Hospital.
